Established: The University was established in 2003. Abu Dhabi University was the first of its kind wherein all the degree programs already had secured accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in advance of any students enrolling in them.

Application: e- Campus Solution

The Challenge: Abu Dhabi University wanted an integrated smart card solution which would help the students to use the various facilities of the campus by using only one smart card. The main challenge faced by ScreenCheck was the integration of 3000 smart cards with all the respective applications of the campus. The university wanted to assimilate the different applications ranging from library card to canteen service with the smart card application.

Solution

Objective: The main objective of this solution is to use "One Card" for multiple applications in the University so as to make the usage of the system more flexible and efficient for the various users present in the University from Student to Faculty etc. This solution can be customized according to user's need and requirements.
The various applications that use e- Campus are as follows:

Access Control: The card that will be issued to the users is a MiFare Card which can be used for Access Control and can be customized according to University's needs and regulations wherein entry can be restricted or permitted according to users as well as time zones.

Photo Copier: All users will insert the card in the smart card reader and after giving the command for the no. of copies, the relevant money will be deducted from the card.

Printing Services: Each printer will have a console wherein the users can insert the card and approve or delete the print command and accordingly the money will get deducted. The printer consol is connected to the computers through the main server and all updates are done online.

Future Implementation Plan

Canteen: The canteen will have a POS which will be connected to the main server and after the user has purchased a product, the money will be deducted from the card.

Vending Services: There is a smart card reader attached to the vending machine and once the user inserts the card in the machine, the money gets deducted according to the options selected by the user.

General Features

Customization of the Profile: There are different profiles available for Students, Faculty and Guest which differ in terms of access control to other restrictions on the application usage.

Payment Software: Pay Pro Software will be used in e- Campus which will be connected to the database.

Database: SQL Database will be used to store the profiles of Students, Faculty and Guest and updating of the profile will take place as per the university's requirements.

Card: MiFare card is issued to the users which can be used at all the applications present in the University.
